Construction is well underway on the 73,000 square-foot home for the AddRan College of Liberal Arts and the John V. Roach Honors College. The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2009. The facility will be the university's first US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified facility.
In the summer of 2009, renovations will begin on Reed Hall to repurpose the west facade and to build a courtyard to connect Scharbauer and Reed Halls.
The remaining portion of the Student Center was demolished on July 16, 2008 at noon to prepare for the construction of Scharbauer Hall. Demolition of the “connector” building began Friday, June 13 at 8 a.m. and work continued for a few weeks. The buildings were dismantled piece by piece using equipment with a “claw” to remove the debris.
