TCU Schieffer School of Journalism students and a recent graduate of the school have won two national awards from The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). The 2005 Mark of Excellence Awards, which recognize outstanding efforts of student journalists to report the news, were announced earlier this month. More than 3,100 entries in 43 categories were considered for the awards.

TCU’s Image magazine won a National Finalist award in the Best Student Magazine category and recent graduate Robyn Kriel was named National Winner in Television In-Depth Reporting for her feature titled “Our Neighbors, Ourselves.” Kriel, who graduated in winter 2005, had previously placed first in SPJ’s regional competition and also won a national first place award in TV features from the Hearst Journalism Awards Program.
