Dr. Suzanne Huffman is Associate Professor of Journalism, and chairs the Department of Broadcast Journalism and News-Editorial at the Schieffer School of Journalism.

Dr. Huffman has reported, anchored, and produced news at commercial television stations in Tampa, Florida, in Santa Maria, California, and in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her reports have appeared on NBC's "The Today Show." Dr. Huffman taught broadcast journalism at three universities before joining the TCU faculty in 1999, and her former students are currently reporting, anchoring, and producing news at stations across the South and the Southwest. At TCU, Dr. Huffman created SkiffTV (www.skiff.tcu.edu/SkiffTV) and works with faculty colleagues to cross-train students in broadcast, print and on-line journalism.

She is co-author of Reporting from the Front: The Media and the Military, published by Rowman & Littlefield. She is also co-author of Women Journalists at Ground Zero: Covering Crisis, published by Rowman & Littlefield. The book contains the stories of 24 women who covered the events of September 11, 2001 from New York City, Washington, DC, and rural Pennsylvania. These women were television reporters, wire service photographers, newspaper editors, and TV anchors. Dr. Huffman says they were very brave and focused and strong that day, and their stories show us how much "true grit" it takes to be a journalist in such horrific circumstances. She is also co-author of Broadcast News Handbook: Writing, Reporting, and Producing, published by McGraw-Hill. And she is a contributing author to Indelible Images: Women of Local Television, published by Iowa State University Press. Her research centers on the practice of broadcast journalism and has been published in Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media and presented at both regional and national symposia.

As an undergraduate at TCU and a member of the 1973 graduating class, Dr. Huffman was a M. E. Sadler National Merit Scholar and a member of the Honors Program. Currently she is a member of the Addison and Randolph Clark Society and a lifetime member of the Alumni Association.
