Southwest Airlines president will speak at Neeley breakfast event Sept. 13

Colleen Barrett, president and corporate secretary for Southwest Airlines Co., will be the featured speaker at the Tandy Executive Speaker Series on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 7:30 - 9 a.m. at the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center. The event is hosted by Dan Short, dean of the Neeley School of Business at TCU.
This long-running program brings distinguished business leaders to campus to share ideas and best practices with Metroplex business professionals. Open-seating tickets are $20 each. Reserved tables for eight are $250. Register by Sept. 5 to www.tess.tcu.edu.
Barrett and Southwest Chairman Herb Kelleher have been in the spotlight for years as champions of the unique Southwest spirit. It was recently announced that she and Kelleher will step down from their current positions in 2008 but stay with the company through 2013. Barrett joined Southwest as corporate secretary in 1978 after working for several years as Kelleher's executive assistant at his law firm. At Southwest, she has served as Vice President Administration 1986 to 1990; Executive Vice President Customers 1990 to 2001; and President since 2001.
